A Note From Merchant City Festival 25-26 July 2015.
It's our 2nd festival we took part in. We're not that anxious this time, far more relax in preparation compared to Mela. We learnt from Mela experience. First day of the festival we went early morning, we use taxi service this time to bring our stuff, the driver wasn't friendly upon knowing we load lots of stuffs, specially the big heavy table. reached site at 8AM, set up our stall, start trading at 10AM. It was still quiet until 1PM, then it started to get busy, the weather was nice, sunny, dry and not wet. Quite busy throughout the day. We stopped at 8.30PM, packed some of our equipments and shut the stall, then went home.
The 2nd day we started quite later at noon 1PM, it's already looked busy on site, crowds had came so we thought it's going to be busier than the first day. However it started to rain, then people started to go away, we still had customers though far less than the first day. We still continued to open until end of business time but our neighbouring stalls stopped before end of business time. One of our customer, a young lady from Liverpool happened to have lived for 9 years in Indonesia as an English teacher, she's lived in Yogyakarta and Solo, chatted in Indonesian with us and told us how she missed Indonesia so much and is craving for Indonesian food. Her Indonesian language was quite good though, she spoke like a native speaker.

This may be our last festival we took part, we don't think we want to take part in another festival. From 2 festivals we took part, the pitch fee is quite expensive, unless the organizer is willing to reduce the pith fee. It's like we're working for someone else, sales perhaps quite good but after deducting the pitch fee, costs, it's left with small amount for ourselves, in my opinion it is not really worth the resources spent.
Let's see...
