Mie goreng or fried noodle is a very popular Indonesian dish. Egg noodle is commonly used, however there is also non-egg noodle used for vegetarian consumer. Usually it uses egg, vegetables like cabbage, chinese chyesim, carrot. It can be consumed as itself or as compliment in other set dish such as Nasi Kuning. You can find it in almost every part of the country, from restaurants to night street vendor travelling from place to place. It is a common dish for birthday party as the long noodle strand represent long life. Some restaurants will offer the Special Birthday Fried Noodle which uses whole fried quail egg. The Indonesian fried noodle is different from Chinese version, as the Indonesian fried noodle uses spices in its ingredients thus has a more unique taste.
